Recycling Guidelines for Users of the Osseo Area Recycling Center
Aluminum should be empty and rinsed out as sugar in pop cans can attract insects. Aluminum cans should be separated from steel cans. Foil is accepted in a separate container.
Tin cans or bi-metal cans should be washed out.
Newspapers should be bundled in brown paper bags or tied tightly with string. Please, no magazines, phone books, trash, or plastic bags. Normal slick ads (sale flyers) can remain with newspapers.
No waxed or flat cardboard to be included (ex: cereal boxes, pop or beer cases etc). Please remove all plastic styrofoam or any other material such as wood from cardboard.
Corrugated cardboard only.
Please remove all rings, caps, lids, covers or any other metal or plastic. Labels can remain on. Acceptable items are soda bottles, beer bottles, juice containers, ketchup bottles, wine & liquor bottles, and food containers. Not accepted are crystal, light bulbs, ceramic cups & plates, drinking glasses, mirror and window glass.
Plastic bags such as shopping bags, milk bags, bread bags etc. are no longer accepted.
HDPE #2 β Natural: Milk jugs, any other necked bottles. Do no include round containers such as one gallon salad dressing jars.
HDPE #2 β Colored: Detergent bottles, bleach bottles, etc. Please do not include butter tubs, cool whip containers, etc. PETE #1 β This includes pop bottles and any other necked bottles made of #1 PETE plastics.
ALL PLASTIC CONTAINERS MUST BE FREE OF CAPS, LIDS, METAL, FOIL, AND DIRT. ALL CONTAINERS MUST BE RINSED AND THOROUGHLY DRAINED.
THE TRIANGLE WITH ARROWS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CONTAINER DOES NOT INDICATE ITβS RECYCLABLE. IT IS AN IDENTIFICATION SYMBOL ONLY.
PLEASE LOOK AT THE NUMBER INSIDE THE TRIANGLE FOR RECYCLING PURPOSES.
Labels may remain on containers.
